Premier Waste and Recycling… was founded by Rich Heemstra and Bill Vander Velde on November 1, 1998. Prior to the formation of Premier Waste, Rich and Bill both held senior management postions with one of Chicago’s leading independent waste hauling companies. However, in the 1990s consolidation swept across the waste haulilng industry and independent waste hauling companies were being bought up by large, multi-national waste companies.
Rich and Bill were not satisfied with the manner in which large corporations view their customers, and knew there was a better way to conduct business. Premier Waste & Recycling was founded on the principal that “there is no substitute for service.” This is not just another “buzz phrase,” but rather it describes the philosophy by which we at Premier operate everyday.
Both Rich and Bill were “born” into the waste business. Their fathers operated independent waste companies in the Chicagoland area. Growing up, Rich and Bill learned the business in the best way possible, from the ground up. Early in their careers, both men learned the invaluable role that customer service plays in the waste business.
Rich and Bill combine a lifetime of experience in the waste business. Their experience covers all aspects of the waste and recycling industry, from driving trucks to fixing containers to managing multi-million dollar operations.
In eleven short years, Premier Waste has grown from a two man operation into the leading independent waste hauler in the Chicago area - by putting its customers first. Premier Waste is large enough to handle any need, yet small enough to know your name.
